THE ALIA VISION

In today’s increasingly interconnected and information-driven world, cross-language communication is more critical than ever. People from diverse cultures should be able to speak freely without having to pay a lot of money for translation services. Lowering the barriers to global communication provides people worldwide with more direct access to basic information, improving their quality of life. Democratizing language translation has the potential to include marginalized populations across the planet in universal education and international commerce, enabling upward social mobility.
ALIA is a distributed computing network that combines the untapped potential locked within millions of human brains with the latest advancements in artificial intelligence, cryptocurrency, and blockchain technology. ALIA leverages the properties of cryptocurrency to give individuals across the globe an incentive to contribute toward training and operating the most accurate and decentralized machine translation system that has ever existed. And it will only get better with time and increasing participation.

ALIA Tokens are Created through Distributed Work

The ALIA blockchain supports proof-of-work, but does so without wasting the energy typically consumed in a proof-of-work ecosystem.  ALIA tokens will share many technical characteristics with the Bitcoin model.  The most fundamental similarity is that ALIA tokens will not be pre-minted.   Rather, ALIA tokens will be mined like Bitcoin and solely the result of neural network computational work.

The Translation Market is Ready for Distributed Automation

Language translation is a fast-growing consumer market screaming out for faster, cheaper, and more accurate services. The ever-increasing need to communicate has forced consumer appetite for total translations (as measured by word volume) to grow at a significantly higher rate than overall market revenues. For example, large-companies report that on average, they intend to increase their consumption of translation services by 67% in the next three years.
However, the limitations of existing technologies have prevented Language Service Providers (LSPs) from satisfying much of this exploding demand. In fact, demand so greatly overwhelms supply that translation services must be priced at a relatively expensive price point. The majority of the highly fragmented $43 billion global market is served by minimally-capitalized entities using labor-intensive approaches. This opens the door for ALIA, a neural net-powered, cryptocurrency-enabled, widely-distributed computer network for translation services.
